This Week's Color Challenge!

This week's color challenge was Basic Grey and Pink Pirouette. I started with a Pink Pirouette card. I layered a piece of Baisc Grey on top. Next, I cut out a piece of Candy Lane DSPusing the Top Note die and my big shot. Then, I stamped the sentiment from the new Sale-a-Bration set in Basic Grey on the bottom of the Top Note.
I wrapped a piece of striped Pink Pirouette ribbon around the Top Note and the Grey layer. Finally, I colored a piece of the So Tweet Chipboard with White Craft ink. Let it dry and then used the Tombow multi purpose adhesive to add the chunky glitter. I finished it off with a new flower brad and put it on the card with Dimensionals. I also did color the center of the flower with a black sharpie marker.
Enjoy!

Last Week's Color Challenge!

HI Everyone,

I am a little behind in posting my color challenges. So here is last week's and tomorrow, I will post this week's.

The Colors were Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, and Sahara Sand. I stamped part of the Baroque Background stamp in Artichoke ink on Sahara Sand. It is a little hard to see in the photo, but this is layered on Old Olive and then on a chocolate chip card. (The card measures 3x6"). Then, I used pieces of Artichoke DSP and made little pleats, or folds like you would use for Iris folding, on the right side. Finally I stamped the sentiment on the bottom also in Artichoke ink.

I hope you like it!

See you tomorrow!

Color Challenge 01-12-09

This week's color challenge is Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, and Not Quite Navy. I have been wanting to make one of these Top Note boxes for awhile and have been putting it off. Why? I don't know.... because I had to take things off of my Big Shot to get at it and I was being lazy. OK - so that is why.

So this was the perfect time to just do it! Clean up and use your stuff, Kel!! SO here is my final product.
I took 2 pices of Kiwi Kiss CS and ran it through the Big Shot with my Top Note Die. Next, I stamped one of them with the Floral vine stamp from the Fresh Cuts stamp set in Kiwi Kiss ink. On a piece of Shimmery White scrap, I stamped the Lovey Dovey heart from the new Hostess set called "A Little Somethin'" in Not Quite Navy ink. I carefully cut this heart out (since I do not have the new Full heart punch just yet). I used the negative image from cutting out the heart to stipple some Baja Breeze ink. I cut this out too! (I can't wait to get that punch!!) THese were put on top with some Dimensionals.
Now for the box part. I took a piece of Kiwi Kiss CS (11"x 2 1/4") and scored it at 4" and 7" on the 11" side and at 1/4" on the 2 1/4" side. Then I took anothe piece (2 1/4" x 3 1/2") and scored it at 1/4" from each side on the 3 1/2" side(this made the flaps for the sticky strip) and 1/4" on the 2 1/4" side. The 1/4" sides are where I put the Sticky strip to adhere it to the bottom Top Note die. I have to say that if I make this again, I will make the side a little bit smaller. So instead of having a 4"x3" box, I would make it 3 3/4"x2 3/4". I think this will make it a little easier for the top and making sure you don't see the sides of the box peeking out from the top.
For the box top, I took an 11"x 1 1/4" strip and scored it at 3 7/8", 6 3/4", and 10 5/8". The 3/8" left on the end of this strip is a flap for sticky strip. It is also scored at 1/4" on the 1 1/4" side. Then another strip (3 1/8" x 1 1/4") scored at 1/4" on the 3 1/8" side and on the 1 1/4" side. Again all of the 1/4" scores are for sticky strip. I know this probably a little confusing, if you take some card stock and see it, it should make sense... This part was adhered together and then to the top of the box. This fits inside the bottom part to secure the cover.
Finally, I added the Baja Breeze Double stitched ribbon and the Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla satin ribbon. The Kiwi ribbon is amazing. This is first time I used it and it definitely will not be the last!
I hope you enjoyed this take on the Top Note box. It would make a great hostess gift, Non-traditional Valentine, or just a little somethin' for someone special!

Valentine Mini Scrapbook

Hi Everyone,
Lately, I have been playing with my Love you Much Bundle which comes with the Love You Much Stamp Set, Candy Lane DSP and The new 3 heart punch(it has another name, but you know which one I mean). I remembered that I had bought some of the empty Accents and Elements tins awhile back. So, I decided to make a scrapbook.

Let's start with the cover. I kept this simple and just stamped and embossed the heart image on the top.
Next, I made the inside top cover.

Here, I punched out the hearts with the 3 heart punch and cut out the middle of the "o" and "e" with my Hobby Blade. I used a Technique Junkie ribbon technique to fill in these holes.
Next, I covered the bottom of the tin with DSP. I cut and scored my card stock for the scrapbook and assembled it.
Then, I got to the decorating of the pages. I kept it simple so that I could add pics and journaling later. The pages are decorated on both sides, I just could not add all of the photos here. ... but if you would like to make this scrapbook, I will be having a class in early February. Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, check out the rest of these pics.

Creative Challenge 1-01-09

HI Everyone,

I told you a few weeks ago about the new Creative Challenge I was going to start posting for my group. Well, the first one of the year is to use the Pretties kit on a project. My friend, Traci, posted a page she did last summer. Well, she inspired me to do a scrap page too.

So, here it is.

This is a 6x6 page. This pic is of my daughter and her friend from school. It was taken after their holiday show. (I got the glare in just the right place since I didn't have a chance to ask her if mom if I could post the pic.) The base is Chocolate Chip. The photo mat is Kiwi Kiss. The strip of Dsp is from the Bella Rose pack. The rub ons for the sentiment and flower border are from the Chateau Bella pack. The ribbon is Riding Hood Red Taffeta. Finally, for the challenge, the hat pin and beads are from the Pretties kit. This page also works for the color challenge from this week.

I really liked the way this page came out. It was simple but the colors worked well together and with the photo. And, the accessories really compliment the page, not overpower it! Ahhh! wouldn't it be nice if all pages came together like that... sigh....

I hope you enjoy it. Leave me a comment with a link to your creation and I will post them here.

Color Challenge 1-06-09

So the first color challenge of the year is Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red, and Pink Pirouette. These are the colors in the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper(DSP). I have loved this paper since it came out. So was excited to use it in this challenge.

I am not sure I am loving this card.... But it was a little out of the box for me. It looked much different in my head. Anyway here are the supplies:

Sets: A Rose is a Rose

Ink: Riding Hood Red

CS: Riding Hood Red

Accessories: Bella Rose DSP, White Taffeta ribbon and Chateau Bella Rub-ons.

I may try to make another card with these colors. I'll post if I do.

Enjoy!

Decor Elements and a New Challenge!!

So, if you have been following my blog, you know that I enjoy our weekly color challenges and try to do them as often as I can. (Lately, not so much)... Anyway, the challenges have really helped me to be a more creative stamper. They take me out of my comfort zone sometimes and really make me think out of the box. So, I have now started posting a new challenge for my group called(for now), the Creative Challenge! This challenge will be just about anything goes! This week it is to use Decor Elements on anything but the walls! There are so many uses for these things!! See this post for my Countdown to Christmas board.

Now here is my newest creation! This one was a little more involved! I used the bulk Decor Element vinyl that Stampin' Up! sells along with my Sizzix Big Shot.

The Trifle bowl, I found at Walmart. It was about $8.00 or so. I used the Santa and Sleigh Decor Element in Real Red. This is the small one.

Quick Note: Be careful when putting this on this bowl. Try to work from the middle out to the edges. Otherwise, it may not lay right and may go off the edge.

Next, I cut out some little snowflakes with my Big shot and the Bulk vinyl. Although not hard, I had a little trouble with the Sizzlits cutting all the way through the Vinyl and had to get out my Hobby Blade to help with some of the smaller areas. I will tell you a little more about that in a minute!!

Here is another picture from the back with a little more detail on the snowflakes. Also, I added a piece of Real Red 5/8" grosgrain ribbon on the bottom for a bow and to dress it up a bit!

I also, made another one of these bowls as you will see below with just snowflakes. The larger snowflake is one of the big shot dies. However, this one is a Bigz die and goes through the vinyl much more easily!! The bigz dies are a larger die with deeper blades. I also made sure that when
I made this second one, that I used my Shims. What are Shims, you ask?? Well, these are very thin pieces of plastic that come with the Premium Crease pad. They help to give the dies a little more resistance when going through the machine so you get better cuts. I find this especially helpful with the more detailed dies.

On this bowl, I used some of the striped ribbon from the Holiday Mini to make the bow.

Keep in mind that you can order of the products I used here by going to my website and clicking "Shop Now" in the top right corner.

Enjoy!

2 Color Challenges

HI Everyone,
Ok, so last week's colors were Bravo Burgundy and Creamy Caramel. I actually had this card done last Tuesday, but just didn't have a chance to get it posted. I hope you will forgive me!! So here it is.

I used the stamp set Scandinavian Season for this one. This set is in the current mini catalog. I stamped the tree in Silver Encore ink on Bravo Burgundy CS and embossed it with silver EP. Next, I added a half pearl from the Pretties kit with a glue dot on the tree. I stamped the Snowflake from the set on the Creamy Caramel card front in Caramel ink. Finally, I added a strip of Whisper White CS and a piece of Burgundy grosgrain ribbon with some silver brads. Quick and Easy!! Those are the ones I like for the Holidays!!!

This next one is the challenge for this week. The colors are Chocolate Chip, Bravo Burgundy and Always Artichoke. You need to look carefully to see the chocolate chip on this first card - but it is there I promise.

For this one, I pulled out my Season of Joy set. I was so happy to see that this set made it into the new catalog from last year's holiday mini. I stamped the flower 3 times in Burgundy ink on Very Vanilla CS. Then, I stamped it again on a scrap and cut it out to place over the middle image on the card. I used the scallop edge punch on some Artichoke CS for the layer. The "Merry Christmas" was stamped with Artichoke ink and punched out with the extra large oval punch. Then I used the striped Alpine ribbon (this is where I got the chocolate chip in!!).

I even went all out and decorated the inside of this card! I have been really inspired by Beate to work on the insides of my cards as well! So here it is!

Finally, I have more for this week. While the card stock and such was out on my desk, I decided to use of the new TechniqueJunkie techniques called Cuttlebug Highlights.

I used my new ornaments embossing folder and ran it through my Big Shot on Bravo Burgundy CS. I highlighted it with my Silver Encore pad and then layered it on an Always Artichoke card. The greeting was stamped in Artichoke ink on Very Vanilla. I sponged the edges of this with Burgundy ink and then tapped the edges on the silver pad for a little more definition. Finally, I tied a piece of the Chocolate chip Alpine felt ribbon around it and attached it to the card with Dimensionals.

I hope you enjoy these cards! The top two will be part of my 10 card class on Wednesday. I will share more of those cards in the next two days. If you would still like to jpoin me for that class, just let me know. If you would like to order the kit from the class, I will have a limited number of those available too!

Countdown to Christmas!

So not too long ago, I placed an order for some of the new Decor Elements. I wasn't esactly sure what I was going to do with them... But I had to have them. Well, I finished a few projects. Most of my inspiration for these projects came while I was walking through Target and Walmart.

This board I found at Walmart for about $7.00. The top part is a white magnetic board and the bottom is a bulletin board. I applied my Countdown to Christmas Decor Element to the top. Next, I cut CS for the 25 numbers. This was very tedious!!! But, I made it! On the back of each of the numbers, I put a small magnet. The Magnet I used comes in a large sheet and you cut it to fit your project. I found this at one of the craft stores. Next, I made a little box to hold all of my numbers and I attached it to the top of the bulletin board with Sticky Strip. I also added an envelope on the bottom for my receipts.

I was thinking about adding another envelope for coupons or gift lists. I might even add a "To-do list". I also think I am going to add some stamped images on the magnets o that you can see on the top just to spice it up a little. Aside from the numbers, this project cam together pretty quickly and I think will be helpful in keeping me somewhat organized this holiday season!! If you would like more instructions or would like to order the products to make this project, just let me know!!

I will share another project or two in the next day or so! So check back soon!!

Enjoy!

Color Challenge 11-04-08

Well, I finally got this one done. The colors for this week were Night of Navy, Handsome Hunter and Blush Blossom. This was a bit of a challenge. I very rarely use Handsome Hunter or Blush Blossom so this was very tough. But I am always up for a challenge.

I knew that I wanted to use my new set called Season of Simple Grace.

I kept it simple!! My card base is Handsome Hunter. I stamped the Holy Family and the star with Night of Navy ink on the Blush Blossom CS. The Wise Men and the shepherd were stamped with 2nd generation Hunter ink (I stamped off on scrap paper first.) I also masked the Holy Family, just in case I moved the other stamps over too far. I then highlighted a few areas with my white gel pen and sponged the edges with Night of Navy ink. This piece is layered on Night of Navy CS. Finally, I added the "Merry Christmas" in silver ink and the silver bow.

I also wanted to make the inside look nice, so I stamped the sentiment and just the lamb with Hunter ink on a scrap of Blossom CS. The shepherd is stamped in silver ink.

If you too are looking for a challenge, give this one a try!! Don't forget to check out the blogs of the other "Color Girls". You can find the links in the side bar on the right.

Enjoy!

5 Birthday cards!

I wanted to share these cards with you. They were from my birthday 5 card class last week. They were all very easy cards. Pretty much just straight stamping. The one with the tasty looking drink had some watercoloring with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an Aqua Painter. If you would like this class kit, I still have a few left. They are $15 including Shipping. Please e-mail me for more info.

Enjoy!

Pumpkin Picking

So far I haven't really shared many, Ok any, photos of my family. So, I thought I would share these few pics from our recent trip to Pick Pumpkins. I hope to get these scrapbooked soon, but for now the pics themselves will have to do! This first pic is my son, John, who just turned 7 and my daughter Caelen, who is about to turn 5. We have been taking pics of them like this on the pumpkins since Caelen was just a bout a year old. It is getting a little harder now that she is getting bigger. I think we are going to have to find bigger pumpkins!
This next photo has also become a tradition. I love the pics of the kids walking through the sea of pumpkins trying to find the perfect one. This year, they even got to do it with their litte cousin AJ, who is 2. Aren't they just too cute?!

Color Challenges for the last 2 weeks...

So I have been keeping up with the color challenges - just not keeping up with getting them posted.
So here is last week's : Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Old Olive. I used the new Scandinavian Season set and Wheel from the Holiday Mini. The tree is stamped on Shimmery White CS with Old Olive Craft ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice EP. I then colored it in a little with my Aqua Painter. I also added some accents with the Pretties kit. I am not sure I like the way I added the hat pin through the CS on the front.... But I didn't know how else to put it on there.

This week's colors were : Creamy Caramel and Not Quite Navy. I made this very simple card using the Pocket Silhouettes and the Hugs and Wishes sets. I think this one is pretty self explanatory.

Enjoy!!

Pink is this Week's Color!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having a great week! I finally had some time to play today and make this week's color challenge. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month and women, this week was anything Pink!!

So, I went with Pink Pirouette ink and CS. I stamped the Baroque Background stamp on Shimmery White with the Pink Pirouette ink. Then, I stamped the flowers from Inspired by Nature, also in Pink Pirouette. I used a dauber, directly on the stamp to add some Pink Passion highlights to the top of the flowers and bottom of the petals before stamping it on the Shimmery White cs. Then, I added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the tops of the flowers.

For the scallop punched layer, you need to cut your card stock 1" larger than the top layer. So my layer with the flowers is 3" x 3.5". I cut my Pink Pirouette layer to 4 x 4.5" and then punched it with the scallop edge punch. I am still working on getting the corners to look right... but you get the idea!

On a personal note, this card is going to be mailed to my friend, Lisa. She was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer and will be having surgery soon. The prognosis is good... so if you have a moment, say a little prayer or think a good thought for all those who are dealing with this disease. Let's all hope for a cure and good health for all!

Thanks!!

Enjoy your weekend!

Kelly
